KCET 2025 Cutoff Ranks by Branch

Branch demand drives cutoffs as much as the college does. In 2025, high-demand branches such as Computer Science (CSE), Information Science (ISE), Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML) and Electronics & Communication (ECE) closed at much sharper ranks than core branches like Mechanical (ME), Civil (CV) and Electrical (EEE). When you compare options, read the cutoff for your specific branch at each college — a college that is a reach for CSE may be comfortably safe for a core branch.

KCET 2025 Category-Wise Cutoff Ranks

Cutoffs are published for each category — General Merit (GM) and the reserved categories 1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, SC and ST, each with General, Rural (R), Kannada-medium (K) and Hyderabad-Karnataka (special) variants. Reserved-category seats usually close at a higher rank number than GM for the same college and branch. Always plan against your own category column (for example 2AG, 3BG, SCR or STK), not the General Merit figure.

How KCET Cutoff Ranks Change Across Rounds

Cutoffs generally relax from the mock and provisional stages through to the Third & Final round. As candidates upgrade, surrender or skip allotted seats, those seats return to the pool and become available to lower ranks. The First and Second Round Final figures are the most dependable benchmarks; the Third & Final round shows how far a rank can stretch when remaining seats are filled.

How to Use 2025 KCET Cutoffs for 2026 Option Entry

Start with the choices you genuinely want most — your preferred college, branch and category — and place them at the top of your option list. Then build a balanced list using the 2025 closing ranks: ambitious options (cutoff a little above your rank), safe options (around your rank) and backups (well below). Plan around a ± 20% buffer on your rank to absorb year-to-year variation, and confirm every figure against the official KEA PDF before you submit on the portal.

How to read these cutoffs

Each cutoff is the last (highest) rank that secured a seat in a given college, course/branch and category in that round. If your rank is at or below a cutoff, that option was within reach for that category last year.

  • Match your category — always read the column for your exact category (e.g. GM, 2AG, SCR), not just General Merit.
  • Enter your wish-list first — put the college, branch and category you most want at the top, then add options within roughly ± 20% of your rank.
  • Build a balanced list — mix ambitious options (cutoff a little above your rank), safe ones (around your rank) and backups (well below).
  • Compare across rounds — cutoffs usually relax from the mock and provisional stages through to the Third & Final round as seats free up.
Cutoffs are an indicator, not a guarantee — they shift year to year with demand, seat-matrix changes and category movement. Always refer to the actual PDF rank list and enter options only on the official KEA portal at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea.

The First Round Mock, First Round Provisional and First Round Final allotments, the Second Round Provisional and Second Round Final allotments, and the Third & Final Round of KCET / UGCET 2025.

Enter your most-wanted college, branch and category choices first, then add realistic options that fall roughly within ± 20% of your rank based on the 2025 closing ranks. This gives a balanced mix of ambitious, safe and backup options.

Mock allotment is a trial run shown before live entry. Provisional allotment is the first live result you can accept, modify or reject. Final allotment is the confirmed seat after fee payment and verification — final-round cutoffs are the most dependable.

Cutoffs ease across rounds because candidates upgrade, surrender or skip seats, freeing them for lower ranks. The widest movement is usually seen in the Third & Final round.

You enter and submit options only on the official KEA portal at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea. This page is a reference to help you decide your option order before you log in.

The First Round Final and Second Round Final cutoffs are the most reliable for planning, because they reflect confirmed seats. Use the mock and provisional figures to read early demand, and the Third & Final round to judge how far ranks can stretch for backup options.

Cutoffs can shift year to year with demand, the seat matrix and category movement. A practical buffer is to plan around ± 20% of the 2025 closing rank, rather than treating any single figure as fixed.

Reserved-category cutoffs (such as 2AG, 3BG, SC, ST and their rural or Kannada-medium variants) usually close at a higher rank number than General Merit for the same college and branch, because seats are reserved within each category. Always read your own category column rather than the General Merit one.
